August Recap.
This little adventure was one for the books. I didn’t realize quite what I was signing up for when I applied to @emily_jeffords mastermind a year ago, but I am extraordinarily grateful I did. Spending a year meeting with these brilliant women, learning from them, being challenged and encouraged by them, and growing together has been one of the most meaningful parts of my life as an artist so far. Being together in person this past week (which makes me laugh because I guess we technically all met on the internet) reminded me what a gift community is, in all parts of life. I am filled to the brim.
Over the past couple years I have occasionally painted on large, loose canvas fabric that I would later cut down to a specific size. After cutting off the extra fabric around the borders, I was left with sheets of colorful canvas in odd sizes that I didn’t know what to do with, but also didn’t want to get rid of. 🤷🏼♀️ Then a couple weeks ago I decided to snip off a swatch of that canvas and stretch it around a tiny frame I had in the studio. After painting on some more texture and details, and repeating that process with a few other pieces, I had a handful of these delightful, expressive little abstracts - each one like a small excerpt from my painting archives. All of these pictured are just in that first phase (cut and stretched to size), and some need more elaborating than others, but I’m excited to give them a bit of attention and see how they each evolve and take on a new life of their own!
A commission bound for Texas!
Lots of new abstracts now at Galleryvibe in Naples, FL!
