My favorite series to date.

The thing about painting landscapes is that I know what’s on the canvas will never beat standing in the middle of the real thing. Replication isn’t my goal - and just copying a scene can get boring pretty fast. BUT what I looove about painting landscapes is capturing the feeling a certain place first evoked - freedom, gratitude, presence, WONDER. My hope for these paintings is that they serve as invitations into that sense of wonder and awe. That they would be little windows to a state of mind where you can breathe deeply and for a moment feel a bit more alive and free. They have certainly done that for me over the past few weeks.
