It happens every single morning, whether we’re there to see it or not. Sometimes clouds, sleep, or skyscrapers block our view but every morning since the dawn of time, it shows up in all it’s ostentatious beauty, almost embarrassingly pure. And to think, it’s for us. For you. FOR YOU. It’s yours to behold, yours to enjoy, yours to experience, yours to count on. Impossible to own or control, yet this splendor belongs to each of us equally and unequivocally. What could be more humbling?
This song has been in my head on a loop and helped instigate this train of thought. The phrase “But the sun, it still rises for you” is still stuck in my head and I don’t want it to leave. It fueled this (and future) paintings. I quickly spray painted those little words, “for you,” on the panel as the foundational layer and even after the final marks, they still seep through the sunrise as a reminder to stay in it, feel it, live it, enjoy it.
